GGPO SSF2T/SSF2X USA vs JPN Invitational Tournament

GGPO SSF2T/SSF2X USA vs JPN Invitational Tournament

Description:

We would like to announce: The USA vs Japan GGPO Invitational Tournament hosted on GGPO that will take place on 22nd / 23rd June, 2013. Organized by delatroy, osaka-pizza, and FWN and presented by ST Revival and Arkadeum, top players from each country have been invited to battle it out in a solo, character-locked, first-to-three, double elimination contest where a “best-of-the-best” champion will be crowned.

To ensure connection quality between the two countries, USA invites were restricted to players residing on the West Coast given its relative close geographic proximity to Japan. Players from Australia, South Korea, Taiwan and the rest of the USA were considered but were ruled out on inadequate latency grounds to ensure a quality experience for the majority of the participants.

Time & Date:

June 22nd Saturday at 20:00 California time

June 23rd Sunday, 12:00 (noon) Tokyo time

Livesteam & Coverage at Twitch.tv

We are very proud to have Sergjiev via Arkadeum and hazi via hazi_ch on-board to provide live streams on the day in both English and Japanese for each of their respective audidences!  More information about our media production will be announced at a later stage.

Tournament Type & Rules

  • Solo
  • 3 / 5 (FT3)
  • Double elimination
  • Character lock.
  • Akuma is banned.
  • No macros/turbo/autofire.
  • If two players cannot connect, they may try to connect via Supercade.  If they still cannot connect, a coinflip will determine the winner.

From Arkadeum Studios in Los Angeles, CA, this is The Grandmaster Challenge!

Where two contestants will dare face our grandmasters of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo in a battle for the highscore and bragging rights.

Both Blanka players will compete for the title “Best Blanka of GGPO” as they will battle each gladiator in a first to five set.  As an extra bonus, the loser will vow to retire their favorite color.  In this case, it’s the Black & Red Blanka at stake and neither contestant intends to give it up!

Big ST Weekend – Texas Showdown / Gamecenter ST GAMES and EB Stream GGPO Tournaments + Arkadeum

A big weekend of Super Turbo kicked off last night with Arkadeum hosting the first Friday night Super Arcade tournament stream, won by Mike Watson!

Today, Texas Showdown will be holding an ST GAMES tournament at 1PM CST (11AM PST/2PM EST).  It looks like ST will not be able to be streamed but keep checking back @ Texas Showdown to see if any of the matches are streamed.

At 12PM PST (3PM EST), The E.B. will be streaming the third of four qualifiers for their Super Turbo Global Domination Series.  For complete information on the tournament and to still sign up before it starts, click here.  The stream will be at the E.B Stream @ http://www.twitch.tv/TheEBStream.
Following the E.B. Super Turbo Global Domination Tournament, Arkadeum will go live with Sergjiev and eltrouble presenting the next installment of the Super Turbo Tutorial series.  The stream will be taking place on Arkadeum’s Twitch TV channel @ http://www.twitch.tv/arkadeum.

And finally, the Gamecenter Nor Cal ST GAMES tournament will be taking place this afternoon.  They’re expecting to start between 3-4PM PST (6-7PM EST) and will be streamed by Mizuki @ http://www.twitch.tv/thenipahhut.

“No Guts No Glory” – Newbie GGPO Tournament

The folks over at theEBStream will be hosting an online GGPO ST tournament this Saturday afternoon, at 12pm PST. It is a character-lock, double elim tournament. All matches are 2/3, with Grand Finals being 3/5. No entry fee or prize, it’s purely for experience and fun!

Entry-level players are encouraged to join. Although it is an open tournament, I wouldn’t recommend cutthroat killers to join the fray, since that would just ruin the experience for new members of the ST scene.

Click the challonge link to register! Show up at 12pm PST at http://www.twitch.tv/theebstream for the stream and roll call.
